5 reasons I opened my counseling practice in Oregon

Oregon is a beautiful place to live. Having said that, it is not for everyone. We have very dark days and challenges with the cost of living, low incomes, and high taxes.

So why create a therapy practice in Oregon?

Well here are my top 5 reasons:

  1. I live here. I learned years ago that there are a lot of reasons why people need a therapist in Oregon. Affordable housing, cost of living cultural differences, and low pay cause a lot of challenges for daily life. People need support to find creative ways to live and overcome obstacles. Counseling helps with that.

  2. I have a heart for people. Life challenges can be difficult to overcome and I have a heart for people with challenges. Oregon has a large population of homeless people and mental illness. We have recently had an increase in population and there are a lot of concerns over mental health when that happens.

  3. Not every therapist helps in the same way. My years of working on mental health have shown me that every therapist has basic training in college but bring their own unique perspective to the process of healing. Each of us has different life experiences and challenges we have overcome and that knowledge is great for supporting others in their journeys. I have a set of tools that are quite unique to the populations I serve. Professionals that are struggling with becoming their highest selves are my population.

  4. I love what I do. When I am able to support someone to live their best life, I feel amazing. I just love to see people succeed! Oregon gives me a lot of opportunities to do that.

  5. A very diverse population. Oregon is one of the fastest-growing states over the last few years. Due to this increase in population, there is a much more diverse population than in years past. It is so much fun to support professionals transferring from other places to transition to the Oregon lifestyle. It is a unique lifestyle. As people of color and diverse abilities move here there are opportunities for therapists to support in different ways.

We all need support sometimes. If you are a professional looking for help with simple to complex challenges, reach out. Therapists love to support you in living your best life.
