Fear

People will do anything, no matter how absurd, to avoid facing their own souls.
Jung

Whenever there is a reaching down into innermost experience, into the nucleus of personality, most people are overcome by fear and many run away. . . The risk of inner experience, the adventure of the spirit, is in any case alien to most human beings. The possibility that such experience might have psychic reality is anathema to them.
Carl Jung

Fear causes many people to avoid doing anything different than they are currently different or conversely refusing to stay static so as not to get stuck in something they do not want. Fear is actually a way to keep you safe in a world that might hurt you. To overcome fear we have to face it and move into it.

WHAT? that’s scary, right?!

Well, unfortunately, that’s the way out. I am not talking about running headlong into something that is very dangerous to get over fear but I will suggest that you take small steps into the fear to challenge yourself.

How many things have you missed out on because you were afraid you weren’t: good enough, educated enough, worth enough, pretty or handsome enough, organized enough, etc.

To all of that, I say baloney,

Start where you are, with what you have and as you overcome your fear make changes to what you chose to do. It’s a big wide world out there and there is much to see and do. It would be terrible to miss out on the part of that that you should experience.

If you find though that you just can’t seem to move past it, give me a call. I can support you in working through that fear.

I provide counseling and coaching services for professionals looking to step out of their comfort zone and make those scary steps.

Many blessings
