Having fun!

Having fun is different for everyone.

This is me riding my Nightster, on a Friday evening. I don’t always ride for fun I do a lot of different things to balance my life out. As a therapist, I need a balance to be able to provide the best of myself to my clients. It is not healthy to work all of the time and have nothing for yourself to recreate with.

Recreation is defined by Webster as: “Middle English recreation "act of refreshment, action of amusing," borrowed from Anglo-French & Late Latin; Anglo-French, borrowed from Late Latin recreātiōn-, recreātiō "spiritual refreshment, amusement, new birth," going back to Latin, "act of restoring," from recreāre "to make new, restore, revive". Without recreation, we run the risk of becoming less than our best selves.

If you are grouchy, irritable, selfish, irritated, or just plain mean, consider looking at your life balance. DO you recreate enough?

There are many ways to have fun. When I was broke, I would invite friends over and we would have a potluck. Or we would have a movie night. Sometimes we would just take a walk to the nearest park or through a street of old houses in downtown. After any form of relaxation and recreation, a small part of ourselves is restored. We feel better about our lives when we have these outlets.

If you are struggling to figure out what you like to do to have fun. Give me a call

I offer a free 15-minute session to see if we are a good fit for counseling or coaching.
