Falling apart in Fall?

How is your fall going? Have you noticed a shift in your energy level? How about your mood? Maybe you have been a bit hungrier? Feeling a little more crabby?

These are all normal things for humans to feel when they are heading in to their winter season. When there is less sunlight the body has less energy. The sun ( warmth and vitamin D) help our bodies process food to create energy. ( very simple explanation of a very complicated process.)

It is normal and natural that we experience these things to a point. Some of us have bigger levels of these experiences that cause us to be unable to get along with others, interrupt our ability to work, reduce our energy levels to a point where we are unable to get out of bed, cause us to have severe suicidal thoughts. This is what is called a pathological level of mood disturbance and can be diagnosed.

If you are feeling low this season and can still do your daily life chores you are probably fine. If you fall in to the latter group maybe a trip to your primary care for a check up is warranted.

At any rate, enjoy this holiday season and remember to hug your loved ones.
