How to Make the Most of Rainy Days
With the rainy weather this fall season, it is easy to let ourselves fall into a rainy day ourselves.
There are a lot of ways to avoid the down turn in our mood. Making sure we are getting the correct nutrients is super helpful. Did you know that about 40 % of adults in the US are vitamin D deficient? I know, it shocked me to find that out too. Getting a check up on your vitamin and mineral levels from your doctor can help to remediate those low energy days.
Making sure you are having time to rest and recuperate after hectic days is also helpful. The world has become so fast paced we rarely take time to rest and regroup. It is imperative that we learn to listen to our bodies and respond with support when it is telling us to slow down.
Reaching out to people that love us helps to avoid the negative feelings of personal rainy days. Sometimes just hearing our friends voice and the interest of a loved one brings up our mood.
Low mood might also be something that turns out to be a clinical problem. Many people have seasonal affective disorder (SAD) and don’t even know it. If your mood is greatly affected by changes in the season maybe it is time to check in with your primary care and get an evaluation.
Sometimes personal rainy days just indicate we need to make some changes in our situation. If you are unhappy with your job, relationship, where you live, your weight or other things over which you have control; maybe it is time to make a change. Take a look at how you might change your self and how you are responding to those things 9n your life that you would love to change. Making changes in how we are responding to our environment can often improve those “rainy day” feelings.
And remember, counseling always helps to identify where you might be able to make changes.
Many blessings
