The best thing to do in Oregon in the winter time
So many things to do in Oregon. There are still many camping spots in Oregon that are open and affordable.
As I am writing this we are still in a covid lockdown and have to be very careful.
I have found that being outside helps with the inevitable lowering of mood due to reduced light during winter. Walking, hiking, playing in the snow and rain are all fun. In the desert parts of our state, there can be road closures but still many things to see on a drive.
Our beaches are well-known tourist attractions even in winter. There is nothing quite like our king tides. Winter storms are easily enjoyed in a hot tub at one of our beachfront hotels or from a camper you have traveled to in an RV park.
There are many opportunities to visit museums and scout out what food is available. We have the best food, not even kidding. Taking a trip through some of our more kitchy roadside attractions and even some very off-road adventures are available. If you have never seen the mystery spot in southern Oregon or the Wildlife safari south of Roseburg, you are in for a treat. During the summer the Enchanted forest in Salem and Oaks park in Portland are fun trips fairly close to the I-5 freeway. Visiting Bend for amazing food, a trip to the cinder cone, and some of the calmest river floats around. We have kite surfing in Hood River, white water rafting on the Deschutes, and Northfork rivers that will curl your hair.
Seriously this is a very short list of all the things going on here. I have not even mentioned the Native American pow wows or skiing.
Hopefully, this will give you some ideas for getting out of the house and enjoying our beautiful state.
