Increase the positive voices in your life
“Dedicate yourself to the good you deserve and desire for yourself. Give yourself peace of mind. You deserve to be happy. You deserve delight.”
Mark Victor Hanson
Start with your own voice (Self-confidence)
Building your own self confidence is the first step to giving yourself the good things you deserve. There are several steps to creating self-confidence.
1. Solid knowledge base/having a solid knowledge base to be able to provide sensible alternatives to problems. What do you know and where are you an expert? Can you add to your knowledge base?
2. Positive self- talk/say positive things about yourself.
Do you speak kindly about yourself? Or are you self-deprecating at every turn. When you get a compliment do you deny it or just say thank you?
3. Avoid negative self-talk/minimize negative self-statements
Never say bad things about yourself. You deserve to be treated with respect, even from your own self!
4. Use positive self-imagery/ positive visual imagery will increase positive outcomes.
See yourself with your mind’s eye as successful, beautiful, sexy, accomplished, and as having arrived. This may take some time but work on it. You might be surprised as to how awesome you really are. As you see yourself so you are
5. Set high expectations/ (the Galatea effect (self-fulfilling prophesy)/if you shoot high you will hit high.
If you are trying to hit a goal, why would you set it for three feet from where you are? Reach for the stars; if you miss you will still be in space. You deserve to have everything you want. You just have to believe you deserve it. You do, trust me!
6. Develop explanatory style of optimists/explain things in a positive way.
Optimism is always looking at the positive in a situation. If you are discussing something or explaining it to someone use the positive voice.
7. Strive for peak performance/experiencing peak performance over time leads to self-actualization you must be totally focused on what you are doing.
If you are sitting around all day eating crappy food and not exercising or if you are watching TV all day and not working toward self-improvement of any kind, you are not operating at peak performance and you are just not trying either. Eat right exercise, meet with friends, balance your life. Peak performers know that without this you can’t survive. Garbage in garbage out
8. Bounce back from setbacks and embarrassments /resilience accepting the reality, lean on your support network, and find creative solutions to problems.
Everyone is allowed to be human. If you make a mistake, well so what, that is how many of us learn. It is perfectly ok to make a mistake and ask for forgiveness. I highly suggest you learn how to forgive yourself and ask the forgiveness of others. If you are around people that won’t forgive, you may want to consider changing your social group.
