What to do about rainy days?

Everyone has rainy days, everyone

These are the days that make us question our life and circumstances. The days when we feel sorry for ourselves, have low energy, are ill, just got fired from our job, broke up with a lover, ran over a squirrel, you know, yucky day.

In instances like these it is usually best to stop the negative self talk and really take a hard look at your life. Maybe this is a sign that you need a little time to rest and relax. Often times we forget that we are really pretty fragile animals in need of a lot of care. When facing these “rainy days” maybe it is best to sit back with a cup of tea and enjoy the rain.

Carl Jung said that without the darkness we would never appreciate the light. Well he probably said something a lot more profound but that is the jist of it anyway.

If you are having a “rainy day” consider this a time to reflect when things were different. When they were “sunny”. Sunny days always have to balance out with some rainy ones.

If your “ rainy days” occupy more than a few days of your life maybe something else is going on. If most of your life is “rainy” ,maybe you need professional supports to find the sun.

Counseling is a great way to work through difficulties, illness, grief, and challenging life situations that may be the real cause of the rain.
