The best things to do in Salem, Oregon in the springtime

Salem, Oregon is a beautiful place to live. We are so close to the mountains and the ocean that day trips to either are a wonderful way to spend some time with loved ones or enjoy your own company.

In spring, the cherry trees are blossoming and since we are known as the cherry state we have a lot of them. The state capitol is surrounded by flowers. it is an easy walk from there to downtown where you can enjoy interesting architecture from the 1850s right up until today. Riverfront park hosts the most beautiful access to the Willamette River and a host of unusual sites. There is a relatively new bridge to walk across the river to Minto Brown Park. You can visit the Gilbert house museum with the kids and enjoy some discovery time.

Salem has many parks and offers a slower pace to life than some of the bigger cities in Oregon. Over the past several years, many new eateries and tap houses have been added to tempt your food and drink appetites.

Downtown hosts many professional offices and government agencies. There is a drop-in center for teens on State street and some wonderful artisan breads and cookies on Union.

If you like to golf, there are a few courses that roll along in a challenging style to improve your game.

We have many opportunities to create art, play music, see plays and listen to artists play their music while having dinner or a snack.

Spring is still a bit chilly in Salem so bring a sweater or maybe, better yet a coat so you can take a long walk and enjoy our beautiful town.

Welcome and enjoy
