Why is creativity important?

Creativity is a crucial part of living a healthy human existence. Creativity at its best is an expression of those things that reside in our psyche. Our world can be so busy and complicated at times that we forget to make time to tap into those creative sources that live inside us.

Our sense of connection to the bigger world is affected by reduced access to psychic contents. Love, happiness, knowledge of self all reside in our psyche. It is not difficult to utilize that creative content but you have to be mindful of how you as a person resource the psyche.

Each of us has gifts within us that are to be used in the world. Those gifts left unused will make us sick. They are there for us to utilize and give to others in some way. Creativity is usually the way we figure out what those gifts are.

If you have no idea how to find those gifts I will give you some clues to find out. Have you ever been doing something and felt very calm and contented? So much so that you wished you had a way to capture the moment to revisit later? Have you ever been doing something so exhilarating that you felt an intense freedom? Have you ever been so focused on something that you lost all track of time because of the deep interest in what you were doing?

These are some of the things that are helping you to tap into those gifts, but there are a lot more.

Reading, fishing, hiking, painting, a deep discussion with someone that just “gets it”, all are ways to explore your creative self.

Tapping into those spaces helps us to be connected to a deeper part of ourselves, that is healing. Balancing our life to include times and spaces to explore our inner world creates the balance we need to remain healthy in a very demanding world.

Today, take a moment and ask yourself when was the last time I really felt in touch with the things I love.

The answer may be surprising.

Many blessings
